Attackers Armed with Weapon‑Like Object and Castet Target Ukrainian Customers

Two men armed with a weapon‑like object and a castet attacked Ukrainian customers and staff on 25 October in a shop on Wyszogrodzka Street, Targówek, Warsaw.

Attack in Warsaw Grocery Store

On 25 October, at a store on Wyszogrodzka Street in Warsaw’s Targówek district, two men assaulted Ukrainian customers. The perpetrators used a weapon‑like object and a castet to threaten and harass those present.

They shouted insults tied to nationality, called for hatred, and threatened the victims with violence.

Suspects’ Actions and Threats

After buying alcohol, the men began harassing the staff because of their nationality. One of them produced a weapon‑like object, attacked a customer briefly, and left the shop. Employees counter‑attacked and pushed him out.

He returned shortly after, armed with a castet, threatened them with death, stole several goods from a shelf and left again.

Rapid Police Response

The incident was reported to the Targówek police at 19:30, prompting a coordinated response from units in Praga Północ, Białołęka and other districts within Warsaw VI Police Command.

Criminal investigators reviewed CCTV footage, distributed suspect images to all officers on duty, and deployed canine units, detective squads and forensic specialists to the scene.

Arrests and Evidence

Within hours, the suspects were apprehended in an apartment block on the same street. Police seized a weapon‑like object from a 34‑year‑old and a castet from a 42‑year‑old; both men were intoxicated.

In the same location, officers also arrested a 28‑year‑old with possession of drugs.

Legal Proceedings

Investigators reviewed the 34‑year‑old’s and 42‑year‑old’s records, finding prior convictions. Subsequently, the prosecution charged them with insult, criminal threat, hate‑based conduct, solicitation of hatred, and robbery.

They face up to 15 years in prison under the Warsaw‑Praga Północ District Prosecutor’s Office.
