Former President Donald Trump has shifted his stance on the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s records, stating he knows nothing about the referenced “girls” and urging a public disclosure of the files.
Trump Calls for Release of Epstein Documents
On his Truth Social platform, Trump declared that Republicans in the House should vote to publish all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. He argued that the U.S. has “nothing to hide” and that releasing the files would stop what he calls a “Democratic fraud.” He added that the release would counter the “great successes” of the Republican Party, including a recent victory over a Democratic shutdown.
Trump’s position marks a change from his earlier opposition to public disclosure. He cited last week’s revelation of emails suggesting the former president might have known about Epstein’s relations with minors.
Trump Denies Knowledge of “Girls” in Emails
During a briefing on Air Force One, Trump told reporters that he “knows nothing” about the “girls” mentioned in the recovered Epstein emails.
Several of the emails name Trump, and one indicates Epstein claimed the former president was aware of his relationships with underage girls and spent several hours with one of the victims at Epstein’s home.
Trump labeled the allegations as “completely false” and earlier urged the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate Epstein’s ties to prominent Democrats, including former president Bill Clinton.
Background: Epstein and Prince Andrew
Jeffrey Epstein was convicted of sexual offenses involving minors and died in 2019 while in federal custody.
The case has drawn sharp scrutiny in U.S. media, with Congress demanding all related documents.
In a related controversy, Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles III, withdrew his official titles after public claims he had ties to the pedophile. He has since stepped back from public life and rejects the allegations, noting the impact on the royal family.
