Investigators Scrutinize Polish Rail Tracks After Explosion, Find Rich Evidence

Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said investigators are uncovering abundant evidence after a recent rail track explosion, while authorities pursue the saboteurs.

Minister Says Investigators Found Very Lucky Evidence

Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński appeared on Polsat News’s “Graffiti” program to discuss the recent explosion on rail tracks. He highlighted that “we had very, very great luck” and noted that the tracks were regularly inspected, with rail infrastructure monitored by railway authorities.

Identifying the Saboteurs Remains Uncertain

The minister admitted there are several leads regarding the perpetrators, but he could not disclose them for the sake of the investigation. He said the material collected on the scene was rich enough to aid in arresting the culprits and possibly reaching the masterminds.

Second Explosive Device Uncovered

Investigative journalist Mariusz Gierszewski of Radio ZET reported that near the damage on the Warsaw‑Lublin line, a video‑recording device and a second, non‑exploded explosive were found. He suggested the camera might have been intended to document a potential rail disaster, while the second payload indicated the saboteurs were determined to ensure the accident occurred.

SIM Cards Linked to Foreign Passports

According to RMF FM, authorities already know that SIM cards used in phones that detonated the explosives are registered to foreign passports. It is not yet clear whether the passport holders are the actual sought saboteurs.
