Nawrocki Calls for Medical Summit; President Expresses Deep Concern

Poland’s President Karol Nawrocki has announced a medical summit at the presidential palace on December 5, after expressing deep worry over the health‑care system. .

Meeting Between President and Chief of the National Council of Physicians

Earlier this month, the National Chamber of Physicians approached the offices of the Prime Minister and the President for urgent discussions on the state of health care. On November 19, Karol Nawrocki invited Dr. Łukasz Jankowski, the head of the National Council of Physicians, to the presidential palace.

Jankowski warned that certain prevailing actions could limit the availability of services, particularly in smaller counties, and urged joint efforts to find solutions that would prevent this and strengthen public health care. He cited examples from dentistry to emphasize the importance of maintaining realistic access to publicly funded services.

Chief of the National Council of Physicians on Health System Situation

Dr. Jankowski stressed that key national figures must understand the real conditions facing the health system. He presented the President with an assessment of how doctors perceive the current system, the challenges encountered, and the changes required.

He proposed organising a meeting involving representatives of all professional medical bodies, which would take the form of a health‑care summit scheduled for December 5, 2025, at the presidential palace. He criticised the system as under‑funded and lacking a coherent reform strategy, warning that short‑term measures by the department of health could weaken the public sector.

Planned Medical Summit at the Presidential Palace

The Presidential Office has confirmed the December 5 summit, aimed at understanding the situation of Polish health care from the perspectives of doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other health professionals. Invitations will be sent mainly to national medical associations and the Ministry of Health, headed by Minister Jolanta Sobierańska‑Grenda.

Rafał Leśkiewicz noted that President Nawrocki is “deeply concerned” about what is happening in health care services over the next months, citing the minister’s view that the past two years have led to the “ruin of the Polish health system.”
