Polish TNT in Israeli Bombs? Manufacturer Responds—“Mystery”

Polish defence firm PGZ says it has long supplied TNT to U.S. buyers, denying links to Israeli weapons used in Gaza assaults.

PGZ Responds to Allegations

PGZ confirms it has sold TNT to U.S. partners for years, but refuses to disclose its destinations or uses. It cites a long‑term contract that does not specify the intended applications.

The company also declined questions about cooperation with Israeli defence firms, noting that contractual provisions require partner consent before sharing such details.

NGOs argue that the probability of Polish TNT ending up in U.S. bombs used by Israel is very high and call on Nitro‑Chem to halt deliveries.

Report Highlights Polish TNT’s Key Role

An investigation by four NGOs—People’s Embargo for Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement, Shadow World Investigations, and Movement Research Unit—traces the supply chain of MK‑80 series bombs.

The study finds Poland supplies TNT used in munitions and aerial bombs, including those employed by Israel over Gaza. It suggests the explosive material from Bydgoszcz plants could have been used in attacks that killed many civilians.

The report notes specific bombing campaigns where American‑made bombs, likely built with Polish TNT, were used.

Nitro‑Chem, Europe’s Largest TNT Producer

Nitro‑Chem, a Bydgoszcz‑based plant owned by the Polish Arms Group (PGZ), remains the sole major TNT manufacturer in the EU and North America.

In April 2024 it signed a 1.2‑billion‑zloty contract with Paramount Enterprises International to supply TNT to the U.S. for Mk‑80 bomb production, supplying about 90 % of U.S. TNT needs.

Officials describe the plant as “the largest TNT producer in Europe and one of the biggest in the world.”

Will Prosecution Take the Case?

Politicians from the Razem party say they could file a complaint with prosecutors. Export‑control groups claim inaction could amount to complicity in genocide.

State‑owned armament‑plant officials stress the strategic importance of TNT production for NATO, Ukraine and Poland’s defence industry.
