Drone Threats Halt Flights at Eindhoven Airport

Dutch authorities suspended civil and military operations at Eindhoven Airport on November 22 after detecting multiple drones near the airspace, keeping anti‑drone forces on alert.

Eindhoven Airport Closures

On the evening of Saturday, November 22, the Dutch government announced that traffic at Eindhoven Airport was suspended. The airport handles both civil and military flights.

Dutch Minister’s Statement

Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans, on the X platform, reported that numerous drones had been observed in the vicinity of the airport. As a result, all air traffic was halted and the ministry’s anti‑drone units remain on standby for intervention. Police and security services were also on site.

European Drone Incidents

The day before, Dutch Defence reported drones near the Volkel air base, which were engaged and shot down. Multiple drone incursions across Europe have disrupted airports, with over 20 Russian drones entering Polish airspace in September and Russian military aircraft violating Estonian airspace for 12 minutes.

These activities are described by EU Commissioner Ursula von der Leyen as a “hybrid war.”

Poland Rail Sabotage Response

Since November 21, Polish police and the armed forces have been conducting Operation Horizon to counter acts of sabotage on the country’s rail network. The operation increased security presence and aimed to inform the public about misinformation.

During the previous weekend, explosives were found near the Warsaw–Lublin line, and tracks were damaged near Piaseczno. Sabotage suspects reportedly crossed the border in Terebovlya.
