Sikorski Bashes Matecki on Social Media, Calls Him Dead Skunk

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski sparked an online row on Sunday by blasting MP Dariusz Matecki, calling him a dead skunk and questioning the legitimacy of a Szczecin debate event.

Sikorski’s Social Media Outburst

On Sunday, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski posted on social media, accusing MP Dariusz Matecki of questioning the legitimacy of an international debate event in Szczecin. Sikorski claimed that the event, which had won a competition for the Regional Centre of International Debate (RODM), was organised by a PiS councilor. He added that the procedure’s honesty was unthinkable in “their times” and likened being attacked by Matecki to “like a dead skunk thrown at a person.”

Matecki’s Counter‑Retort

Matecki replied that none of the PiS councilors are members of RODM in Szczecin and that private meetings funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Civic Platform (“KO”) should remain unanswered. He also insulted Sikorski, calling him a “slimy, anti‑Polish creature.”

Sikorski Clarifies the RODM Selection

Sikorski followed up with a post explaining that the competition for running RODM was won by the Eko‑Spol association, chaired by Szczecin councilor Marek Chabior, and coordinated by former OKW member Marek Podsiadło. He thanked them for the smooth organisation and urged that the interpellation be answered politely within the deadline.

Interpellation Filed

Matecki announced that he had already sent an interpellation questioning the financing and organisation of public meetings for KO supporters across Poland. Sikorski responded that the question was “dead” and reminded him to reply within the statutory timeframe.

RODM Events and Recordings

RODM meetings hosted by Sikorski under the banner “local debates, global solutions” take place in different regions of Poland. Video recordings of past sessions are available on the Foreign Ministry’s official YouTube channel.
