The blaze erupted after 18:30 on Sunday, 23 November, breaking out in a single‑family home on Świętojańska Street. Firefighters responded and found a woman and a man aged about 50 dead. An 84‑year‑old woman also sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.
Six Residents Evacuated Before Firefighters Arrived
According to County Fire Command spokesperson Grzegorz Hinz, six people left the ground floor before the fire services reached the building. The early evacuation helped prevent additional casualties.
Firefighters Rescue Other Inhabitants
When firefighters entered the house, they rescued additional occupants, some of whom were already unconscious. The fire initially started on an upper floor, necessitating careful interior operations.
Extinguished Fire with Seven Firefighter Crews
The blaze was brought under control by seven fire crews on the scene. Police forensic technicians and emergency medical teams also arrived, but the cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
