Poland‑born MEP Michał Kobosko, who joined a four‑person EU delegation, announced he will leave Brussels for Washington to discuss a peace plan for Ukraine, saying it is among the most important missions recently.

EU Delegation Kicks Off Meetings with U.S. Officials

The delegation will begin on Monday with a series of meetings at the State Department, Congress, and think tanks, aiming to amplify the Polish voice in Washington, Kobosko said.

Kobosko noted that Poland’s in‑depth understanding of Russia would shape the dialogue and that the plan should safeguard Ukrainian and European interests.

German Chancellor Calls for Robust Guarantees for Ukraine

On Thursday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Ukraine must have “strong defense forces” and credible security guarantees if a peace agreement is to be reached, highlighting the need for European security protection.

Merz praised U.S. involvement in seeking a settlement and stressed that the interests of Europe and Ukraine must be protected by unified action among partners.

Estonia Looks to Ukrainian Army as a Model

In Berlin, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal met with Chancellor Merz and said Estonia’s army is built on the Ukrainian model.

He urged Europe to act boldly and utilize frozen Russian assets, underlining that a unified stance from the U.S., Europe, and Ukraine will leave a lasting impression on Russia.
