Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty denied panic over a list of 13 presidential bills that Karol Nawrocki claimed were frozen in the Sejm, saying they are being processed.
Czarzasty Responds to Presidential Bill List
On November 28 the presidential website published a list of 13 bills submitted to the Sejm. Karol Nawrocki said the bills were “stuck in the Sejm freezer.”
During TVN24’s Piasecki Interview on Tuesday, December 2, Marshal Czarzasty told viewers that the bills are currently being processed and that “I don’t know where the panic comes from.”
Bills at Different Stages of Processing
Czarzasty explained that the presidential bills are at various stages of parliamentary procedure. One of the papers still needs to be supplemented.
He noted that Nawrocki has not yet responded to a request for amendments to the draft legislation.
Marshal Criticises Presidential Drafting
Czarzasty said that the president “doesn’t always draft good laws.” He viewed the lack of proper preparation as a key issue affecting the bills’ progress.
Sejm Freezer Claims vs Reality
After taking office on November 18, Czarzasty has not made any decisions on the bills. He said he had heard that there is no “freezer” and that many laws are sitting in committees for 12‑15 months without a print number.
Nawrocki’s List of 13 Bills
On Nawrocki’s site a statement warned that initiatives filed in the first days of the presidency remained in parliament for over a hundred days, and that the count rises daily while citizens wait for better law.
