Putin Postpones U.S. Delegation, Declares Timing Tactic, Threatens Europe

On Dec. 2, Vladimir Putin postponed a meeting with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, citing a tight schedule, and later warned that Russia was ready to fight Europe.

Delaying the Meeting

Putin was expected to meet the U.S. delegation at 15:00 Moscow time, but the session had not begun when the report reached journalists at 17:24. The meeting commenced only after the deadline passed.

Speech Near the Kremlin

The leader delivered an address at an investment forum several kilometres from the Kremlin, finishing almost an hour after the scheduled start time for the U.S. talks.

Threat to Europe

During his speech, Putin warned Europe that while he said he did not seek war, if Europe chose to fight, Russia was already prepared.

Kremlin Schedule and Strategy

State media noted the president’s congested Tuesday, with multiple work meetings and a later interview for Indian media, implying that the postponement was a tactical move to gain advantage in negotiations.

Walk Through Red Square

Earlier that day, Witkoff and Kushner were seen in Moscow’s Red Square after dining at a Michelin‑starred restaurant, before entering the Kremlin alongside representative Kirill Dmitriev.
