The storage facility for plastic materials was engulfed in flames, prompting Mayor Jarosław Jucewicz of Ciechocinek to urge residents to stay away.
Fire at the Warehouse Near Ciechocinek
Fire erupted on Thursday, August 14, in the production‑storage halls that process film in the village of Siarzewo in the Aleksandrowski district of Kuyavian‑Pomeranian Voivodeship. The blaze also took hold of two small farm buildings and a car parked in front of the complex. A total of 25 fire crews were dispatched. According to Captain Przemysław Baniecki of the Toruń Fire and Rescue Service, the firefighting operation “may take several more hours” to bring the fire under control.
Victims, Losses, and Injuries
Heavy smoke drifted over the area, visible from dozens of kilometers away, according to TVP Bydgoszcz. There is no confirmation of any fatalities, but one person was reported injured after striking his head during exit from the building, as stated by Captain Baniecki in an interview with Interia. RMF24 reports that the building was almost completely destroyed, and firefighters are attempting to protect surrounding homes from the inferno.
Mayor Issues Urgent Appeal
Mayor Jarosław Jucewicz published photos of the site on Facebook, urging residents not to head toward the beach. “Please avoid the direction toward the municipal beach in Ciechocinek. Lipnowska Street and Słońsk Górny – congestion,” he wrote.
