Polish Forces Deploy Fighters Amid Rising Tension on Eastern Border

On Saturday, 6 December, the Polish Armed Forces declared fighter aircraft ready for operations in Polish airspace, citing increased tensions along the eastern border with Ukraine.

In response to massive Russian attacks on Ukraine on Saturday, 6 December, the Polish Armed Forces declared fighter aircraft ready for operations in Polish airspace.

The Operational Command of the Armed Forces reported that “the operation of military aviation in Polish airspace has commenced.”

Ground air‑defence and radar systems have reached readiness, with the operation described as preventive to safeguard airspace, especially near threatened areas.

Uneasy Night Beyond the Eastern Border

During the night, Kiev and the Kiev region were attacked, injuring three people.

An all‑Ukraine air‑defence alert was declared and train routes were altered for several trains.

The Kiev District Military Administration warned that the enemy “massively attacks the Kiev region with drones and missiles, targeting peaceful residential areas.”

Polish Airspace Monitored

The Polish Operational Command stresses continuous monitoring of the situation and that all forces on standby are ready to react to any potential threats to Polish airspace.

Russia Claims to Have Downed Ukrainian Drones

Yesterday evening, 116 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed by Russia’s active air‑defence systems, the Defence Ministry says.

Russia claims the highest number of drone interceptions over Riazan (29), Voronezh (27), Bryansk (23), and Białgorod (21).
