The Sosnowiec Diocese issued an apology to victims of sexual abuse allegations against priest Jacek K., stating the conduct was unacceptable and offering support, on December 5, 2024.

Apology Statement

On December 5, 2024, the Curia of Sosnowiec released a statement apologizing to those who suffered from the alleged misconduct of priest Jacek K., declaring the behavior unacceptable and offering spiritual, psychological and material support.

Curia’s Actions Regarding the Accused

Following initial reports, the priest was removed from ministry and all data was handed to prosecutors. The Curia emphasized zero tolerance for misconduct and confirmed adherence to canon law, deferring further proceedings to the Apostolic See.

Indictment Filed Against Priest Jacek K.

On December 5, the Sosnowiec County Prosecutor’s Office charged priest Jacek K. with nine sexual offenses and possession of child‑pornographic material, alleging abuse of seven minors between 2008 and 2024. He was arrested on October 1, 2024 and faces up to 30 years in prison.
