On December 3, 2025, at about 1 p.m., Warsaw firefighters rescued a 43‑year‑old with epilepsy after a seizure on Independence Avenue, as three children surrounded him.

Al. Niepodległości Scene

On 3 December 2025, around 1:00 p.m., Warsaw firefighters from the II Territorial Unit observed a 43‑year‑old man lying on the sidewalk of Independence Avenue, with three children crouched over him. The youngest was just three years old.

Man’s Epileptic Seizure

The man was in convulsions, and one of the children told the firefighters that the man is 43 and has epilepsy, a statement that helped the rescuers orient their assistance.

Rescue Measures by Firefighters

Firefighters called emergency services, placed the man in a safe lateral position, secured his head against injury during further fits, and monitored his vital signs. They also wrapped him with rescue tape from the kit to maintain thermal comfort as the seizures intensified and he lost consciousness between attacks.

Care for Witnessing Children

While attending to the patient, the officers kept the children nearby, obtained a phone number and contacted the mother. They continued to watch the children while awaiting the ambulance crew.

Prompt Ambulance Response

Minutes later, paramedics arrived, performed diagnostics, and transported the man to hospital. Firefighters remained with the children until an aunt arrived just before 2:00 p.m. to take them home.

Training and Protocol

More than 120 officers in Warsaw City Fire Brigade hold rescue qualifications, and each undergoes regular pre‑hospital first‑aid training.
