All of Poland in Alert. IMGW Warns: Extreme Heatwaves and Storms Approaching

IMGW issued heat warnings for all voivodeships. In one region, third‑degree warnings are in effect. Over the weekend, storms and rainfall may also occur.

IMGW issued heat alerts

Institute of Meteorology and Water Management issued heat alerts for all voivodeships. The greatest danger related to extreme temperature occurs in the west of the country. Some counties are subject to third‑degree alerts. Temperature may reach up to 35 °C. Third‑degree alerts will be valid until 20:00 on Friday, 15 August. First and second‑degree alerts apply in other areas.

Weekend weather forecast

On Saturday the warmest will be in the south‑east, where thermometers could indicate up to 32 °C. In the center of the country temperatures will be around 29 °C. Sunday will be slightly cooler, with temperatures not exceeding 25 °C.

Storm forecast. Possible thunderstorms in some regions

During the night from Friday to Saturday, local thunderstorms may occur in the west and north of the country. On Saturday they may appear during the day in the south‑east and in the Ziemia Kłodkowa region. The forecasted amount of precipitation during the storms could reach 15 mm. Forecast officials also informed that on Saturday, gusty winds may reach 55 km/h in some places, and up to 60 km/h in the Sudetes. On Sunday only brief showers are expected, mainly in the north‑east and east.
