On Monday, PiS Senator Wojciech Skurkiewicz tried to yank the microphone from TVP journalist Justyna Dobrosz‑Oracz during a parliamentary interview, leading to an ethics committee complaint.
Parliamentary Exchange
The exchange took place in the Polish Senate on 8 December, when journalist Justyna Dobrosz‑Oracz asked questions about President Nawrocki’s ties to Donald Trump. The senator responded with a defensive tone and referred to the necessity of coalition and bilateral cooperation.
Senator’s Conduct
During the conversation, Skurkiewicz reportedly began turning off Dobrosz‑Oracz’s microphone attached to her jacket, prompting her to end the interview abruptly. The senator later stated that he would call the journalist to discuss the matter.
Journalist’s Reaction
Dobrosz‑Oracz described the incident as “some madness in his eyes” and emphasized the need for media to react sharply to such overstepping of personal boundaries. She noted that the senator did not apologize or explain his behavior.
Media Coverage
Online outlets such as Onet requested comments from both sides. Skurkiewicz answered that he would contact her, while Onet reported the journalist’s frustration with the senator’s abruptness.
Ethics Committee Response
On 11 December at 13:00, Krzysztof Brejza posted on social media that he had submitted a complaint to the Senate ethics committee, condemning the senator’s aggressive conduct as intolerable and calling for decisive action against PiS politicians who cross violence thresholds.
