Court to Release Statement on 11‑Year‑Old’s Death
The prosecutor transferred the case of the 11‑year‑old’s death to the District Court in Jelenia Góra (Lower Silesian Voivodeship). All proceedings are presently handled by the Family and Juvenile Department. TVN24 reporter Tomasz Kanik noted that the court will issue a statement at 15:00 on Wednesday, 17 December.
12‑Year‑Old Arrested Amid Investigation
A 12‑year‑old girl who attended the same school as the victim was detained in connection with the case. She was questioned by police on Tuesday and will undergo psychiatric observation. Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek said on the radio program Jedynka that if the court finds the girl responsible, the parents could face the prospect of the girl being sent to a correctional facility.
Żurek emphasized that criminal liability for such an act normally starts at 14, but because the suspect is 12, she could be placed in a juvenile correctional facility and might remain there for a long time—potentially up to 24 years—though she can expect a similar duration to an adult offender in terms of incarceration.
