On December 11, Warsaw police began a chase of a Mercedes carrying Ukrainian citizens that ended in arrest and a deportation procedure on December 13 in the Targówek district.
First Attempt to Stop the Vehicle
On December 11, near the Świętokrzyski Bridge, a Mercedes was pursued by police after its driver refused to comply with officers’ orders and attempted to flee. The chase moved south along Wybrzeże Szczecińskie but the vehicle escaped the police.
Reappearance of the Mercedes
On December 13, a patrol officer spotted the same Mercedes with a broken window on the Gdański Bridge. After initial identification, the officer relayed the vehicle’s location via radio and continued to monitor it.
Arrest at Targówek Intersection
The vehicle was stopped after it turned onto the intersection of Unickiej and Trockiej streets in the Targówek district. Inside were three Ukrainian nationals aged 28, 29 and 30. Deportation procedures were initiated for the 29‑ and 30‑year‑olds, while the 28‑year‑old was detained for driving and failing to stop for inspection.
Search of the Vehicle
Police found illicit drugs in the vehicle during the operation. Concurrently, authorities began an inquiry into the earlier failure to stop the Mercedes on December 11.
