The incident occurred on Sunday, August 17, around 8:30 a.m. at an unmanned railway crossing in Gronówko, Toruń County, Kuyavian‑Pomeranian Voivodeship. Polregio train from Olsztyn to Bydgoszcz, which departed at 6:13 a.m., collided with a motorhome. A woman traveling in the motorhome was killed, while the male driver was injured.

Travel Disruptions: Train Delayed by Nearly 200 Minutes

The train, carrying 45 passengers, suffered no injuries; all were evacuated safely. A rescue helicopter from the Air Rescue Service arrived at the scene, joined by four fire brigade units and police. PKP reported an almost 200‑minute delay.
