BMW Worth Half a Million Loses Control, Collides Head‑On with Volvo

On Sunday, 21 December at about 5 p.m., a BMW worth roughly half a million euros lost control on Powązkowska Street, Warsaw, and collided head‑on with a Volvo.

Site of Crash

The impact occurred on Powązkowska Street in Warsaw, near the Military Cemetery, at the junction with Krasiński Street, on a stretch heading toward the S8 motorway.

Sequence of Events

The BMW, travelling from Okopowa Street at excessive speed, lost control, slid, struck and penetrated the lane‑divider barriers, and entered the opposite lane. There it collided front‑on with a Volvo traveling Powązkowska Street toward Okopowa.

Emergency Response

Police, fire brigade and medical rescue teams were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters secured the area, cordoned the crossing, disconnected the batteries of the damaged vehicles, and provided first aid before handing the occupants to medical personnel.

During the rescue, the Powązkowska traffic lane toward the city centre remained blocked.

Investigation and Consequences

Medical assessment found no need for hospitalisation. Police investigated the crash and established the BMW driver’s responsibility, issuing a fine and adding penalty points to his licence.

Firefighters also removed fragments of damaged road infrastructure that protruded into the lane.
