After seven hours of rescue operations, two missing miners were found dead in the Pniówk mine in Silesia, Poland, following a methane burst at 830 m.
Rescue Efforts
Rescue teams reached the two miners after seven hours of operations in the N‑9 shaft at 830 m depth at Pniówek mine in Silesian region. The men, aged 40 and 41, had lost communication after a methane explosion. A medical examiner confirmed their deaths.
Mines and Teams Involved
Tens of rescue crews participated, including ten groups from local emergency services, two from the Central Mining Rescue Station in Bytom, two from the District Rescue Station in Wodzisław Śląski, and six from Pniówek mine itself. The incident is being investigated by the District Mining Office in Rybnik and the mine’s health‑and‑safety department.
