Michał Dworczyk on PiS Clash: Two Visions, ‘No Need to Respond to Such Rude Remarks’

Former PiS MEP and ex‑KPRM chief Michał Dworczyk explains the party rift’s two visions and rejects Jacek Kurski’s disrespectful comments, on TVN24.

Two Visions

PiS MEP and former KPRM chief Michał Dworczyk explained on TVN24 that the current party dispute boils down to two visions. One is an approach that radicalises the party’s message, collaborates with other right‑wing parties such as Confederation, and competes over sharp slogans. The other is a modern, conservative view that prioritises developmental projects and ambitious plans for Poland’s future. He welcomed the debate but criticised the media for giving it undue coverage, noting that recent polls indicate declining support for PiS.

Criticising Kurski’s Posts

Dworczyk stressed that the clash is not about personal politics or whether leaders can reconcile, but whether the two visions of a modern right can coexist in one political formation. He expressed uncertainty yet hope. He also dismissed Jacek Kurski’s outspoken comments on Mateusz Morawiecki, calling them nonsense and saying that quoting Kurski is senseless because the former no longer holds a party role. Dworczyk encouraged Kurski to focus on his work and refrain from public outbursts.

Factional Battle within PiS

For weeks the media have reported a split within PiS, with two factions—Morawiecki’s circle and a group dubbed the “piquants” led by Jacek Sasin, Przemysław Czarnk, and Tobiasz Bocheński—at odds. On 15 December, Jacek Kurski attacked the former premier on X, alleging climate‑policy mistakes and disloyalty towards Jarosław Kaczyński. A former TVP head suggested that if Morawiecki is being blackmailed or co‑opted with personal guarantees to weaken the right, he should publicly expose the truth or deliver it to his political superior.
