Former president Andrzej Duda’s spokesperson Krzysztof Łapiński claims Karol Nawrocki is the sole right‑wing actor capable of decisive action under PiS, even as the party shields the president behind a wall.
Nawrocki: The Only Right‑Wing Actor with Real Power
In a conversation with Onet, former Andrzej Duda spokesperson Krzysztof Łapiński said that currently PiS is at a point where Karol Nawrocki is the only entity on the right that has real possibilities to act. “Nawrocki represents the sole right‑wing figure with genuine capacity to influence,” he added.
PiS’s Protective Wall Around the President
Łapiński explained that even when PiS quarrels internally, it tends to stand as a wall behind the president, not criticising, attacking or undermining him. This protection now contrasts with the current president’s difficulties executing promises, as PiS lacks a parliamentary majority.
Lapiński’s View on Duda and Kaczyński
According to Łapiński, the president possesses a quality that convinced PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński to believe in him. He is very self‑confident and, from the outset, appeared to aim solely to win rather than to win a good result before possibly running for Parliament or the European Parliament.
Internal Conflict: Two Visions in PiS
Media have reported a conflict within PiS for weeks, with MEP Michał Dworczyk describing the party’s direction as split between radicalising rhetoric and a modern conservative focus on developmental projects. He noted that this debate takes place in the media and that recent polls show declining support for PiS.
