Incident Details
A collision occurred on January 15, 2026, at approximately 6:20 AM at the intersection of Piłsudskiego and Lisa Kuli Streets in Marki (Wołomin County). A city bus from line 340 collided with a Kia car, resulting in the road toward Radzymin being blocked.
Initial police reports indicated that only the passenger of the car was taken to the hospital, but further information revealed that two men were in the vehicle.
Rescue Operation
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the driver conscious, but the passenger was trapped and without vital signs. Using hydraulic tools, firefighters extracted the passenger and began resuscitation before handing him over to a medical team.
Both occupants of the car were transported to the hospital. Police investigation suggests that one driver ran a red light, causing the bus to strike the right side of the car.
Public Transport Impact
The accident caused significant traffic disruptions and changes to public transportation routes. Three fire stations, five medical teams, municipal supervision, and police were dispatched to the scene.
Warsaw Public Transport (WTP) announced that buses on lines 140, 340, 738, and L45 would be rerouted via Al. Marszałka Józefa Piłsudskiego, Sosnowa, Okólna, and Słoneczna streets back to their regular routes.
Passenger Safety
The bus was carrying eight passengers plus the driver at the time of the collision. According to officials, none of the passengers or the bus driver sustained injuries in the accident.
