Nawrocki held a prolonged meeting with government representatives and security chiefs, receiving reports on state security and officer nominations.
Meeting Overview
The meeting began after 12:00 PM and significantly extended its duration. During the discussions, issues related to national security and officer nominations were addressed. The meeting was described as “constructive and substantive” by Rafał Leśkiewicz after the meeting.
President Nawrocki received reports from four service chiefs concerning the most significant issues related to Poland’s security, primarily focusing on identifying threats to national security and citizen safety. The president received what he “wanted to hear in October,” according to the spokesperson, when he invited the service chiefs to the Presidential Palace.
Rafał Leśkiewicz also announced that such meetings “will be held periodically” and that the Presidential Chancellery will more frequently receive information regarding internal and external security. General Andrzej Kowalski stated that a “new era in relations between the president and service chiefs” is beginning.
Officer Nominations
Regarding officer nominations and promotions and decorations that were to be awarded in special services, President Nawrocki declared that applications resubmitted to him will be reviewed by him, and he will make decisions based on information gathered regarding the officials for whom these applications are directed.
Government Response
Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz stated after the meeting with the president that they had presented information regarding national security and the development of services. “We will apply for officer nominations in the services, and we can more optimistically view the president’s favor in this matter,” he said.
Coordinator of Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak also emphasized the willingness to cooperate with Nawrocki. “If the Presidential Chancellery or the president himself has expectations to receive materials from the services in a different arrangement, on other topics, we are absolutely open,” he stated. Minister Siemoniak also emphasized that the meeting was an opportunity to present information to the president regarding the activities of special services. A review of each service’s priorities was also conducted.
