On Thursday, January 15, 2026, around 19:55, on Jaktorowska Street in Żyrardów, a pedestrian was hit at a marked crossing. The perpetrator fled the scene but was caught a few kilometers away by a witness who then handed him over to the police.

Witness Account

“The driver started to flee. The car behind him, driven by a witness, gave chase. He caught him a few kilometers further and handed him over to the police. The driver turned out to be under the influence of alcohol,” stated the witness.

Police Confirmation

The incident was confirmed by the County Police Command in Żyrardów. The injured 18-year-old Ukrainian citizen was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Driver Information

Investigations revealed that a 45-year-old Polish citizen was driving the Nissan. A breathalyzer test showed over 2.7 permille of alcohol in his system. The driver’s license, which was obtained yesterday, has been confiscated. Further legal proceedings will be conducted after the driver sobers up.
