Missing Polish Representative in Washington: Przydacz Requests Sikorski’s Input
During talks in the White House, Polish officials were noticeably absent. “We are not part of the Coalition of Willingness,” said Przydacz. “The President has been and remains active in international affairs. I do not believe Poland has stepped out of the game.” He urged questioning whether Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski had announced Poland’s participation in the Washington meeting, noting that he had received various reports from foreign sources, as stated on RMF FM.
That meeting involved the Coalition of Willingness, including states keen on sending troops to Ukraine and determining Poland’s presence. Discussions on Saturday and Sunday were led by Prime Minister Tusk and Minister Sikorski. “Poland’s delegation was not listed for the Washington talks,” Przydacz added.
Sikorski Responds to Przydacz—“It Won’t Be Easy”
Foreign Minister Sikorski answered Przydacz’s concerns, saying: “Vice‑Minister Przydacz received a detailed account from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the teleconference of the Coalition of Willingness and knows that no Polish presence was announced there. We have a transcript.” He added, “It will not be easy to cooperate without respect for facts and at least a minimum of goodwill.”
Tusk to Attend the Coalition of Willingness Meeting; Summit’s Focus in Washington
Meanwhile, Donald Tusk will join two significant online meetings focused on discussions that took place in Washington. As reported by the Government Information Center, at 12:00 pm the Prime Minister will join the Coalition of Willingness—a group of countries supporting Ukraine. An hour later, he will take part in an EU Council video conference. Both meetings will cover the outcomes of the summit, which included leaders from the USA, Ukraine, and European states.
Trump‑Zelensky Talks; Preparations for Calls with Putin Continue
On Monday (18 August), Donald Trump met with Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington, followed by broader talks with European leaders, the head of the European Commission, and NATO’s Secretary General. The meeting occurred shortly after the Trump‑Putin summit in Alaska, dedicated to Ukraine’s future. Zelensky declared readiness for a trilateral summit involving the USA and Russia, emphasizing that the decision now lies with Moscow. Kyiv agreed to early bilateral discussions, and the US President called the meeting fruitful, noting that preparations for a direct meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and Russia have begun.
