Poland’s China Ban: Ministry of Defense Reveals Restrictions

Poland’s Ministry of Defense prepares to ban Chinese vehicles from military bases as the EU plans restrictions on Chinese technology in critical infrastructure.

EU Plans Chinese Technology Restrictions

The European Union is set to announce new measures limiting the use of Chinese equipment in key economic sectors, particularly telecommunications networks and energy systems.

According to the Financial Times, citing European Commission sources, Brussels intends to create unified regulations at the EU level since current rules restricting high-risk suppliers are voluntary.

The phased withdrawal from using components from high-risk suppliers will consider the availability of alternatives and overall project costs.

Targeting Major Chinese Tech Companies

These new regulations would directly impact China’s two largest suppliers of infrastructure equipment: Huawei and ZTE.

The United States took similar measures in 2022, not approving new telecommunications equipment from these two firms.

Poland’s Vehicle Restrictions

Poland’s Ministry of Defense is now focusing on Chinese vehicles, particularly those containing electronic components.

Currently, individual military commanders have banned vehicles with Chinese components from certain bases, based on regulations from August 2025 that prohibited photographing strategic objects.

The Ministry is now working to further restrict Chinese vehicles from protected military units and objects, as well as prevent connections between official phones and data storage systems with these vehicles.

China Objects to Polish Restrictions

China has objected to Poland’s use of “national security” as justification for the restrictions.

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “We have noted the report mentioned. China always believes that the abuse of the concept of national security should be ended.”
