Three-Year-Old Seriously Injured After Running Into Road in Niemiry

A three-year-old boy in Niemiry was seriously injured after running into the road on Thursday, colliding with a car despite the driver’s emergency braking.

Accident in Niemiry

The incident occurred on Thursday around 5:15 PM. Three children ran from a yard onto the road in Niemiry. A 42-year-old Fiat driver immediately applied the brakes. “Two older children managed to cross the road safely, but the driver could not avoid a collision with the three-year-old boy,” reported the Wyszków District Police Headquarters.

“Hold on, hero”

The injured three-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. “After arriving, we immediately began providing first aid to the boy, who was transported to the hospital. Hold on, hero, we’re waiting for your visit to our fire station!” – firefighters from OSP in Trzcanka wrote on social media. Meanwhile, firefighters from OSP in Brańszczyk prepared a landing site for the Air Ambulance, but the helicopter could not arrive due to difficult weather conditions.

Police Appeal

“The police appeal for particular caution, especially in difficult road conditions such as a slippery surface caused by lying snow and ice. Officers emphasize that drivers should adjust their speed to the prevailing conditions and always apply the principle of limited trust, being prepared for sudden and unpredictable situations on the road,” reads the communication from the Wyszków District Police Headquarters. “At the same time, police are appealing to parents and guardians to regularly talk to children about road safety rules. Remember that a moment of inattention can pose a serious threat to life and health, especially for the youngest children,” they added.
