Will Karol Nawrocki Be Independent From Jarosław Kaczyński? Poles Have Their Own Opinions

A recent CAWI‑survey shows that while a sizable majority believe President Karol Nawrocki will remain aligned with PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński, a substantial minority see him as independent—highlighting Poland’s polarized view on the new president’s future political stance.

Poll on Karol Nawrocki

The Institute of Study Pollster, on behalf of “Super Express,” surveyed 1,006 Polish adults between 9 – 11 August, shortly after President Nawrocki’s inauguration. Respondents were asked whether the new president would act independently from PiS chairman Jarosław Kaczyński. Fifty‑four percent answered that Nawrocki would be dependent on Kaczyński, thirty‑four percent believed he would be independent, and twelve percent were unsure. The online CAWI survey’s sampling error was about ±3 % and was representative of the 18+ population.

Karol Nawrocki: I Was Never a Party Member

During a televised debate in May, Nawrocki said he entered politics after a career in public service and has been a politician for only six months. He pledged that running for president was the apex of his political journey, and he has never belonged to any political party. The president also noted that he ran for office with the support—both financial and organisational—of PiS, despite not being a party member.

Jarosław Kaczyński: Nawrocki Has 100 % Support from PiS

At a PiS convention at the end of April, Kaczyński emphasised that for Poland to fulfil its national, patriotic duty it must be driven by collective engagement and unwavering determination. He stated that the broad support for Nawrocki hinges on full, unequivocal backing from PiS, describing the new president as a “perfect example” of the strength needed to achieve the country’s goals.
