Israel has begun the planned assault on Gaza City, the central hub of the Gaza Strip. Reports indicate that tens of Palestinians were killed in the first hours, while a projected one million civilians will be displaced.

Israel Launches Invasion of Gaza City

Israel has commenced the first phase of a planned attack on Gaza City, the main urban center of the Gaza Strip, amidst intensified clashes with Hamas. Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli Defense Forces mobilized tens of thousands of reservists in preparation for a large‑scale assault. The Israeli government announced that the city would be captured early in the month.

“Bastion of Terrorists” Claim

The army spokesperson declared that Israel would intensify attacks on Hamas within Gaza, targeting both above‑ground and underground terrorist infrastructure and eroding public confidence in Hamas. He added that the IDF had already begun preliminary operations in the city and was taking control of its outskirts.

Israeli Calls for Residents to Flee

Al‑Jazeera reporters in Gaza noted that military forces intensified bombardments, demolishing buildings and utility structures in a campaign aimed at clearing civilians. Telephones from Israeli troops warned residents not to remain in their long‑time homes, stating that staying would leave them in the line of fire and demanding that they leave immediately, giving them only a short time to evacuate and abandon saved supplies.

Gaza Suffers Hunger Crisis

Air strikes continue across the entire Gaza Strip, including on facilities for displaced persons. Meanwhile, the Gaza Health Ministry reports that 296 people have died of starvation, with 112 of them being children.
