Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski has unveiled a five‑year, $50 billion deal to supply the United States with up to 10 million drones annually, signaling a decisive escalation in U.S.–Ukraine military cooperation.
U.S.–Ukraine Drone Agreement
Zelenski announced that Ukraine has prepared a proposal to the United States for a five‑year contract worth $50 billion, covering the supply of up to 10 million drones annually. The proposal follows a prior arrangement with former President Donald Trump, in which U.S. exports of drones would be opened to Ukrainian products.
Details of the Agreement
During a press briefing on Wednesday, August 20, Zelenski detailed the contract, describing it as a large programme that might be realized after the war concludes. He also revealed a separate $90 billion plan for American weapons procurement, asserting that significant portions would meet Ukraine’s security needs.
Ukraine’s Own Rocket
President Zelenski also reported that Ukraine’s domestically designed Flamingo missile has successfully passed trials and is ready for mass production. With a range of 3,000 km, the missile will reportedly enter widespread production by January‑February 2025.
Russian Destruction of Aid Truck
In Chersoni and the surrounding area, Russian forces destroyed a truck carrying aid to the most vulnerable civilians. The Ukrainian government urges international support and calls for donations to the PCPM Foundation.
