Polish authorities seize over 40kg of mephedrone with black market value exceeding 2.5 million złoty during highway inspection.
Drug Discovery on Highway A2
The District Prosecutor’s Office in Siedlce is jointly investigating with the Terespol Border Guard Station the discovery of over 40kg of mephedrone transported in a vehicle stopped on the A2 highway on January 26, 2026.
The vehicle’s driver, a 29-year-old Ilya R., was immediately detained and charged with possession of a large quantity of psychotropic substances.
Hidden Compartment Reveals Substance
During inspection, officers dismantled the right front wheel arch of the Peugeot 3008 with Belarusian license plates, revealing a hidden compartment containing 40 sealed plastic bags with crystalline substance.
Drug testing confirmed the substance was mephedrone (4-MMC), weighing 41.8kg gross with a black market value exceeding 2.5 million złoty.
Court Orders Pre-trial Detention
On January 28, 2026, the Siedlce District Court approved a three-month pre-trial detention for the suspect following a prosecutor’s request.
The defendant denied the charges and refused to provide explanations during interrogation. The offense carries a potential prison sentence of one to ten years.
