Poland’s ElectroMobility Poland awaits 4.5 billion zloty funding to launch its electric Izera cars by 2026, with uncertainty over Chinese partnership.
Delayed Electric Car Project
In 2026, the first electric Izera cars were supposed to be on Polish roads. Although almost a decade has passed since the establishment of ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), car production has still not started.
EMP is waiting for confirmation whether it will receive 4.5 billion zloty in funding from the KPO (Recovery and Resilience Facility).
Funding Conditions
If the funding is approved, the money will not be provided as a grant, but as a capital entry of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) into the company.
Hub Instead of Production
The funds are to be used not to start Izer production, but for an electromobility hub in Jaworzno.
Uncertain Chinese Partnership
It is not certain that the partner in this investment will be Chinese Geely, with whom EMP signed a licensing agreement in 2022.
Without a partner, the hub launch project will be very difficult to implement, though China remains the likely source of alternatives.
Rising Western Concerns
More and more Western countries are approaching investors from China with growing distrust due to cybersecurity concerns about electronics-filled vehicles.
