On January 1 in Santoko near Gorzów Wielkopolski, lights under frozen ice revealed a submerged quad.
Incident Details
On Sunday, January 1, at approximately 18:00, emergency services received a report of a possible vehicle under the ice on the Noteć. Someone had spotted lights beneath the frozen surface.
Police and firefighters responded to the scene and confirmed a quad was trapped under the ice.
Police Response
A preliminary analysis confirmed no one was in the vehicle. Police quickly located the quad’s owner near Santoko, who was attempting to leave in a car and was stopped for a breath test.
The man had nearly 0.5 permil of alcohol. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident.

Police warn: “Entering a frozen water body always risks your life. Only properly prepared and supervised rinks ensure safe play.”
Falling through ice can lead to rapid hypothermia, unconsciousness, or death. Snow-covered ice hides thin spots and cracks. Report unattended children or at-risk individuals by calling 112 immediately.”
