Doda faces off with TVP Info journalist after meeting President Palace officials about animal shelter conditions.
Palace Meeting Addresses Animal Shelter Conditions
On Tuesday, February 3, Karol and Marta Nawrocky met at the Presidential Palace with singer Dorota Rabczewska (Doda), journalist Krzysztof Stanowski, and Left party MP Łukasz Litewka. The discussion focused on animal rights, including conditions in animal shelters in Bytom and Sobolew. Doda was among those who highlighted the problem of animal mistreatment in these facilities.
The singer discussed the meeting at the Presidential Palace on the “Political Triangle” program aired on TVP Info.
Doda on Nawrocki’s Promises: “I’ll Keep Some Things to Myself”
Program host Aleksandra Pawlicka asked Doda if Karol Nawrocky had promised to sign a law that would increase penalties for those committing cruelty against animals. “Some things related to our conversation, I’ll keep to myself. Besides, it’s hard to promise anything. It seems to me that a good politician, before promising anything, checks what they are able to do and to demonstrate in this matter,” said the singer.
Doda: “I Didn’t Have to Convince the President”
Pawlicka also asked if Doda had convinced the president not to reject all government proposals regarding animal protection. “Do you think he rejects everything? (…) I didn’t have to convince him because since we reached such a meeting, it was probably for the purpose of reaching some compromises, and in this particular matter we didn’t have to convince each other. Just as I was at a meeting with the Minister of Justice, I also didn’t really have to convince him because he invited me because he was aware of the situation and wants to help,” stated Doda.
“I Won’t Let You Pull Me Into This Game”
Doda emphasized that politicians should not make empty promises. She also drew attention to the need for systemic changes regarding animal protection. “And you want promises right away, preferably for a celebrity to make them with the president’s words. I don’t like such a conversation, I say ‘stop’ right away here because I won’t be driven into such a corner. I am an apolitical person and I don’t like situations, especially in the context of animals, where I do everything to connect the opposition, to unite fans of different political parties, so they understand how important our unity is at this moment and not arguing, not attacking one another. I won’t let you pull me into this game,” she said.
