Polish lawyer Roman Giertych petitions for renewed investigation into boxer Dawid Kostecki’s suspicious death, drawing parallels to Jeffrey Epstein case.
New Investigation Requested
On Wednesday, KO MP and lawyer Roman Giertych submitted a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office on behalf of Dawid Kostecki’s family, seeking a new investigation into the boxer’s death. Giertych noted disturbing similarities between the circumstances of the Russian intelligence services’ actions in the Epstein case and those in the Carpathian affair.
“The mysterious deaths surrounding Epstein are similar to the circumstances of the death of the famous Polish boxer,” Giertych stated. He plans to work with lawyer Jacek Dubois and request involvement of a specialized police unit known as “X-Files” to clarify the matter.
Dawid Kostecki’s Death
In May 2020, the Warsaw-Praga Regional Prosecutor’s Office announced an investigation into the boxer’s death, ruling it a suicide. Kostecki’s body was found on August 2, 2019, at the Warsaw-Białołęka Detention Center. The 38-year-old was serving a 5-year and 100-day sentence for leading a criminal group involved in trafficking stolen cars from EU countries.
Carpathian Affair Connection
Before his death, Kostecki was a witness in the so-called Carpathian affair, involving two brothers who ran a hotel business in Poland and were later found to have traded women and forced them into prostitution from 2004 to 2017.
Previous Official Findings
The Ministry of Justice had previously stated in August 2019 that Kostecki’s autopsy excluded third-party involvement, confirming suicide. The ministry noted Kostecki had attempted suicide before and was part of a prison subculture during his five incarcerations for serious crimes including drug trafficking and leading an organized criminal group.
Jeffrey Epstein Parallels
The comparison to the Jeffrey Epstein case comes as the US Department of Justice recently released 3 million pages of documents regarding the financier and sex offender who died in custody on August 10, 2019, in what authorities ruled a suicide.
