PiS Tempts PSL with ‘Last Chance Offer’ Backed by USA

Polish newspaper reveals PiS has proposed forming a technocratic government led by PSL’s Kosiniak-Kamiysz, citing alleged US support.

Third Temptation for PSL Leader

According to “Rzeczpospolita,” PiS has proposed to Polish People’s Party (PSL) to form a technocratic government with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamiysz as prime minister. This marks at least the “third temptation” for the PSL leader, as similar proposals were made after the 2023 elections and following Karol Nawrocki’s victory.

Alleged US Pressure Cited

During the latest attempt, PiS politicians reportedly referenced alleged expectations from Washington, suggesting Kosiniak-Kamiysz could lose contact with US officials if he rejects the “last chance offer.” However, PSL ignored these threats. The proposal may also face challenges due to insufficient parliamentary seats without support from Confederation and Poland 2050.

US Embassy Ultimatum?

The newspaper also reports that Trump’s administration allegedly warned PiS against allying with Grzegorz Braun’s party. TVN24 noted a change in Kaczyński’s tone after a meeting with the US ambassador, with sources indicating “clear signals” that a government involving Braun wouldn’t receive US support. Kaczyński later confirmed distancing from Braun, stating such a coalition would mean “we simply don’t exist” in US relations.
