On Thursday morning, a 60-year-old man died after being struck by a train near Żyrardów station, halting rail traffic between Warsaw and Skierniewice.
Accident Details
On Thursday morning, February 5, 2026, near the railway station in Żyrardów, there was an accident on the tracks involving a person, which caused trains to stop and serious difficulties on the route between Warsaw and Skierniewice.
Services received notification of the incident around 8:20. Police confirmed that a person was hit several hundred meters from the platform. As a result of entering the PKP tracks, a man in his 60s died.
Transport Disruption
PKP PLK informed that after the accident, train traffic was suspended. Carriers were advised to introduce replacement bus service. Some connections were rerouted via Sochaczew and Bełchów. The causes and circumstances of the incident are to be determined by a railway commission.
Ticket and Travel Arrangements
Koleje Mazowieckie announced that from 9:20 until further notice, on the section between Warsaw Zachodnia station and Skierniewice, reciprocal acceptance of KM and Polregio tickets has been introduced.
At the same time, it was indicated that throughout the area where Koleje Mazowieckie trains operate, passengers can also use PKP Intercity trains, except for EIP sets and sleeping cars and cars with lying places. It was also noted that PKP Intercity trains stop at stations according to the schedule.
