Polish PM Tusk defends ally as US Ambassador Rose cuts ties with Czarzasty over Trump criticisms.
Tusk Responds to Ambassador Rose
“Ambassador Rose, allies should respect each other, not lecture each other. At least that’s how we understand partnership in Poland,” wrote Prime Minister Donald Tusk on X. The post was published in both Polish and English.
Rose’s Response to Tusk
Tom Rose, the US Ambassador to Poland, responded to Tusk’s post, stating: “I assume that your thoughtful and well-formulated message was sent to me by mistake, as you certainly intended to direct it to Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty, whose shameful, dismissive and offensive comments about President Trump could potentially harm your government.” Rose emphasized that he holds “the highest respect and admiration for Tusk’s bold leadership and decades of contribution that strengthened relations between the US and Poland.”
US Ambassador Breaks Ties with Czarzasty
Earlier, Ambassador Tom Rose announced breaking all contacts with Marshal of the Sejm Czarzasty, stating: “We will no longer maintain contacts or communicate with Marshal of the Sejm Czarzasty, whose outrageous and unfounded slurs against President Trump have become a serious obstacle to our excellent relations with Prime Minister Tusk and his government.”
President’s Spokesperson Comments
President’s spokesperson Rafał Leśkiewicz commented that “The Marshal of the Sejm is demolishing Polish-American relations.” He added: “Not only does he have problems explaining his eastern social and business contacts, but he is also demolishing Polish-American relations.” Leśkiewicz criticized Czarzasty’s “post-communist mentality” that doesn’t understand the importance of alliances with the United States.
Czarzasty’s Nobel Prize Position
On Monday, Włodzimierz Czarzasty stated that he would not support the nomination of Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming that Trump does not deserve it.
