Drunk Driver with Lifetime Ban Blocks Railway Tracks in Blonie

Police intervened after a drunk driver blocked railway tracks in Blonie, causing train traffic suspension.

Police Intervention at Railway Crossing

Several police patrols, including traffic police, intervened before 1 AM at a railway crossing in Blonie (Warsaw West County) on Poniatowskiego Street. The reason for the intervention was a car whose driver drove onto the tracks blocking the crossing.

To trigger the fastest possible alert for trains, police broke down the barrier. Information about the threat was immediately passed to the railway dispatcher. Train traffic on the route was suspended.

Arrests and Investigation

The car was towed from the tracks and removed. Train traffic resumed at 2 AM. It turned out that the man and woman traveling in the car were drunk. The 34-year-old man had over 2 permille of alcohol in his system, the 36-year-old woman about 0.7 permille. Police found drugs – amphetamine – with both.

Both were arrested. Police will determine who was driving the Fiat – neither the man nor the woman wanted to admit to it. As unofficially established, the man had a lifetime ban on driving vehicles.
