Poll Shows Strong Support for PiS-Confederation Coalition Among Key Voters

A new Pollster survey reveals majority of PiS, Confederation, and Braun supporters back potential cooperation between parties.

Poll: PiS and Confederation Cooperation

A Pollster survey conducted for “Super Express” asked respondents whether PiS should declare willingness to cooperate and form a coalition with Confederation and Confederation of the Polish Crown. Among PiS voters, 57 percent answered “yes,” 16 percent were opposed, and 27 percent had no opinion. Among Confederation voters, 60 percent supported cooperation from PiS, 27 percent were against it, and 13 percent did not express an opinion.

Among supporters of Grzegorz Braun’s Confederation of the Polish Crown, as many as 79 percent said “yes,” 14 percent said “no,” and 7 percent had no opinion.

Kaczyński on Mentzen and Braun

When asked in September about possible cooperation with Confederation leader Sławomir Mentzen, PiS leader Jarosław Kaczyński stated that “if there were no miracle in the form of a complete change of views, he does not see such a possibility.”

“How can we, a party that created a mechanism of real social solidarity in Poland (…), cooperate with a party that represents the idea of social Darwinism, which is disastrous in every respect?” he pointed out. “In my opinion, there can be no coalition, there simply has to be some element of common views in a coalition,” he added. At the same time, the PiS leader firmly ruled out any agreement with Grzegorz Braun’s Confederation of the Polish Crown.

Kaczyński said in January that Braun “far exceeded the limits that are inadmissible for politicians in our civilizational sphere.”

Poll: KO, PiS and Confederation on the Podium

The latest Opinia24 poll shows that if parliamentary elections were held in February, Koalicja Obywatelska would win with 32 percent. In second place would be Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (24.5 percent), and in third place – Confederation (12.6 percent). To the Sejm would also be elected Confederation of the Polish Crown of Grzegorz Braun (7.7 percent) and Lewica (6.3 percent).

Below the electoral threshold would be Poland 2050 (4.1 percent), Razem Party (3.7 percent) and PSL (1.7 percent). Calculations by political scientist Dr. Maciej Onasz of the University of Łódź indicate that KO would receive 191 seats in the Sejm, PiS – 150, Confederation – 65, Confederation of the Polish Crown – 34, and Lewica – 20.
