Hungarian outlet Mandiner claims Poland sending MiG-29 jets to Ukraine would constitute war declaration against Russia.
Polish Fighter Jets for Ukrainian Drones
Polish fighter jets would be exchanged for Ukrainian drones, according to Donald Tusk’s announcement in Kyiv. Tusk stated Poland is ready to provide MiG-29 jets to Ukraine in return for drones. Ukrainian President Zelensky emphasized an urgent need for anti-aircraft missiles, suggesting Ukraine might offer drones for them. Tusk noted he cannot make such a declaration but will revisit the issue after consultations in Poland.
Unknown Nationalist Cited as Finnish Expert
Mandiner features Armando Mema, a 32-year-old accountant and new Finnish politician from the non-parliamentary nationalist party Freedom Alliance. Public broadcaster YLE notes Mema was previously with the Greens, receiving 22 votes in municipal elections and 19 in local elections. Mema gained media attention for attempting to disrupt Ursula von der Leyen’s speech in Helsinki, for which he was fined. Russian media depicted this as proof of restricted free speech in Finland, presenting Mema—a figure with decidedly pro-Russian, anti-Ukrainian, and anti-European views—as a known politician or expert representative of Finns.
Poland “Declaring War” on Russia
Mandiner reports Armando Mema’s claim that Poland supplying jets would “effectively declare war on Russia.” Mema posted: “If Tusk delivers the fighters, Poland becomes an official target; we must avoid conflict escalation with Russia.” The article also includes criticism of European involvement: “EU countries are increasingly engaging in this conflict, which will ultimately lead to further escalation of relations with the Russian Federation. This is the most catastrophic policy in EU history.”
