Gas explosion in Słubice injures one, pipeline fire in Szczecin prompts evacuations of 28 people.
Gas Explosion in Apartment Building
On Sunday, February 8, a gas explosion occurred in an apartment at Kazimierza Jagiellończyka Street in Słubice (Lubusz Province). The incident was reported to authorities after 12 PM. According to RMF FM, the explosion was caused by a tourist gas cartridge in the two-story building. Two people were in the apartment at the time of the incident.
A woman suffered minor head and elbow injuries. The second person, who was inside, was uninjured and was evacuated with other residents, according to Arkadiusz Kaniak, press spokesman for the Lubusz Provincial Fire Service Commander. A total of 11 people were evacuated.
After about an hour and a half, all residents were allowed to return to their homes. The damage in the apartment where the explosion occurred was not serious, with only doors and two partition walls damaged. Police will investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Damaged Gas Pipeline Causes Fire
This week, a gas pipeline was damaged and leaking gas was ignited during earthworks at Łączna Street in Szczecin (West Pomerania Province). Emergency services were dispatched immediately. For safety reasons, the fire department decided to evacuate residents from a building near the incident site. A total of 17 people were evacuated. According to later reports from the services, no injuries resulted from the incident.
