Polish Schools Still Lack Psychologists, Directors Warn

Polish schools show improvement but still face shortages of psychologists as directors struggle to fill positions.

Psychologist Hiring Improves

In the current school year, a psychologist was employed in nearly every fourth school that was without such a specialist in the previous year – this follows from data from the educational information system (SIO) provided by Deputy Minister of Education Izabela Ziętka in response to a parliamentary inquiry.

In the 2024/2025 school year, the lack of a psychologist was noted in 17.6% of institutions, and in 2025/2026 – in 13.4%.

Persistent Recruitment Challenges

Directors are still looking for specialists. In the job bank for teachers in the Silesian Voivodeship, there are currently 66 job offers for school psychologists, in Małopolska – 60, and in Mazowieckie – 53.
