DEPUTY HEAD OF MSWiA SHARPLY CRITICIZES ZIOBRA’S CALL TO POLICE, SAYS “LET HIM NOT SHOW OFF”

Polish Deputy Interior Minister Czesław Mroczek criticized former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro for calling police while being sought, saying he should not “show off.”

Wanted Notice for Ziobro

Deputy Head of MSWiA Czesław Mroczek was asked on Monday, February 9, whether the wanted notice for Zbigniew Ziobro is a “serious criminal matter or a show.” The politician emphasized that it is “an effective instrument for pursuing persons who are hiding from Polish justice” and will be the basis for issuing a European Arrest Warrant. The vice-minister also stated that if Hungary refuses to extradite the former justice minister, it will weaken this mechanism in the fight against crime.

Ziobro Called Police. “Let Him Not Show Off”

Host Marcin Fijołek reminded that Ziobro, during an interview with TV Republika, called the police number used to report information about wanted persons. In response, Mroczek stated that the PiS MP is safe in Hungary as long as Viktor Orban is president there. “If he wants to go – as he did a few months ago – to Brussels, then his roaming will end. If he wants to go to other countries, not necessarily European Union countries, he will also have great risk (…). In connection with this, let him not show off,” said the deputy head of MSWiA in Polsat News.

Police Pursuing Ziobro

Czesław Mroczek stated that the authorities know where Ziobro is, so for now there is no need to call in this matter. At the same time, he appealed to people who have knowledge about the politician’s potential movements to inform the police. Information can be submitted by contacting the Capital City Police Command in person or by phone at tel. 47 72 37 657 (available weekdays 8.00-16.00) or via email: kancelaria.poszukiwania@ksp.policja.gov.pl. Information can also be provided by calling the emergency number 112 or contacting the nearest police station. “For hiding a wanted person or helping him escape, imprisonment of up to five years may be imposed,” wrote the police.
