A courier lost a valuable package in Ogrodzieniec, and police are asking for help identifying a woman captured taking it.
The Incident
According to the Zawiercie District Police Command, the incident occurred on December 22 at around 7 PM on Kościuszki Street in Ogrodzieniec (Śląskie Voivodeship). A large cardboard box fell from a delivery van, but the driver did not notice and continued driving.
Surveillance Footage
Surveillance footage has been released showing what happened to the package. “A dark station wagon stopped nearby, and a woman got out and took the package from the road,” the Zawiercie police reported in a statement. The woman appeared shortly after the package fell from the courier vehicle. “The losses are estimated at over 21,000 zloty. Inside the package were laptops intended for one of the primary schools outside the Zawiercie district,” they added.
Courier Company’s Response
“The contracts are structured in such a way that this is our responsibility. I have read internet comments where people write ‘found, not stolen.’ However, no such thing exists,” said Artur, the owner of the courier company, in an interview with TVN24. “We are trying to locate this package, but no one wants to come forward. We are in shock. On the labels attached to the package, there are courier company markings. The person who took the package from the street could return it to us or to the police,” he added.
Police Appeal for Information
The police are conducting an investigation into the misappropriation of goods valued at 21,000 zloty. “Anyone who recognizes the car or the woman, or has any information that could help identify her, is asked to contact the Zawiercie police in person or by phone at 47 85 352 55 or 47 85 352 00, or the Ogrodzieniec police at 47 85 357 19. Information can also be sent electronically to the email address: ogrodzieniec@zawiercie.ka.policja.gov.pl. A ‘Notify Us’ form is also available on the website of the Zawiercie District Police Command. In all cases, anonymity is guaranteed,” the statement appealed.
