Serious S7 Accident: Driver Had 1.6 Per Mille Alcohol

Three people hospitalized after drunk driver with 1.6 per mille alcohol crashed on S7 near Promna Kolonia.

Accident Details

A serious accident occurred on Monday, February 9, on the expressway S7 in Promna Kolonia (Białobrzeski County), heading towards Radom. A 63-year-old Peugeot driver under the influence of alcohol drove into the back of a properly moving Volkswagen. The breathalyzer test showed 1.6 per mille of alcohol in the man’s body.

The Volkswagen was driven by a 67-year-old driver and had a 65-year-old female passenger as a passenger.

Aftermath

All participants in the event – both drivers and the passenger of the Volkswagen – were transported to hospitals for further diagnostics. At the site of the accident, the road was completely blocked, and police directed traffic to local roads.

Police Investigation

At the scene, officers secured traces and performed necessary procedural actions. The Peugeot driver’s driver’s license was revoked, and his vehicle was towed to a police parking lot. Police are conducting further actions to thoroughly determine the course and causes of the event.

Legal Consequences

Police remind that driving while intoxicated is a crime for which serious legal consequences apply, including imprisonment, high fines, and a ban on driving. Causing an accident under the influence of alcohol additionally aggravates the perpetrator’s criminal liability, and the court decides on the final sentence.
