Poland’s ZUS will raise the monthly honorary benefit for centenarians to 6,938.92 PLN starting in March 2026, an increase of 349.25 PLN.
Key Information About the Honorary Benefit
The honorary benefit is a lifelong monetary supplement granted to individuals who have reached 100 years of age. Importantly, it does not replace a pension or annuity but serves as additional financial support alongside basic benefits such as a pension. The amount of the basic pension has no impact on the supplementary benefit amount.
What is the Honorary Benefit Amount for 2026?
Currently, the so-called honorary pension amounts to 6,589.67 PLN gross. After the March indexation, the honorary benefit will be 6,938.92 PLN monthly, which is 349.25 PLN more than before.
Who is Eligible for the Honorary Pension?
The rules for granting the honorary pension were clarified in a 2024 law. According to the regulations, this supplement is granted to a person who meets specific eligibility criteria.
How to Receive the Honorary Benefit from ZUS?
In the vast majority of cases, ZUS grants the benefit automatically. This particularly concerns individuals who already receive a pension or annuity from ZUS or KRUS. The entire procedure takes place without the senior’s participation.
When Must You Apply for the Honorary Benefit?
However, there are situations where you must independently apply for the honorary pension. The appropriate ESH form must be submitted to ZUS by individuals who do not currently receive benefits. A document confirming the date of birth (such as a birth certificate extract) will be required.
Honorary Benefit and Income – Does It Affect Other Allowances?
The good news for seniors and their families is that the honorary benefit is not considered when determining eligibility for other forms of support. This means that receiving nearly 7,000 PLN monthly does not affect other allowances, allowing seniors to simultaneously use several forms of support without exceeding income thresholds.
Rules for Paying the Supplement to 100-Year-Olds in 2026
The legislator determined that the supplement for centenarians has a symbolic and honorary character – it expresses recognition for people who have reached an exceptional age. For this reason, the benefit is paid in the same fixed amount to all centenarians, regardless of previous earnings, length of service, or insurance history. This makes the honorary benefit for centenarians one of the most egalitarian elements of the Polish pension system.
